Just Kids by Patti Smith is a favourite biography. A beautiful, lyrical memoir written in 2010, documenting her funky-punky-boho relationship with artist Robert Mapplethorpe in NYC in the late 60’s and 70’s where they dedicated their shared existence to creating art, poetry and music.  "I didn't write it to be cathartic, I wrote it because Robert asked me to… Our relationship was such that I knew what he would want and the quality of what he deserved”
