Navratna

Navratna jewellery has long held important cultural significance across many southern, and south-eastern Asian cultures as it is believed to hold talismanic benefits to health and wellbeing. Navaratna is a Sanskrit word meaning “nine gems”.  Each of the gems is representative of the nine planets (although we now know that Pluto is in fact a star!).

The setting of the stones is believed to connect with mystical powers, tied to astrology, mythology and is intrinsically linked to Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism.  In Hindu traditions, Every planet has an associated gemstone which in turn has the ability to harness the power of the cosmic rays associated with that particular planet. Thus the Navaratna, or the combination of nine gems, is believed to balance the influence of the navagrahas in a human being’s emotional, mental and material condition.
